SWELLING AFTER TUMMY TUCK

Swelling is a common problem with abdominoplasty, or "tummy tuck," as it is often called. The decision to do a tummy tuck is an important one. are by individuals who desire a fiber-filled, well-formed abdomen. The mis part of the rors is transformed and often sculpted to suit the individual's needs and desires.

Swelling remains a significant issue in the postoperative management of patients who have undergone a tummy tuck procedure. After the excess skin and fat have been removed, the surgical tissue trauma leads to swelling of the tissues, or "edema," as we call it scientifically. We often tighten the muscles as well, resulting in further swelling. The swelling, like after other surgical procedures, is, of course, temporary, and the extent as well as the duration vary from person to person.

Managing postoperative Swelling after Tummy tuck

While a lot of the issues with postoperative swelling are unavoidable, especially after extensive procedures like a tummy tuck, several measures can help reduce swelling as well as stiffness after a tummy tuck.

1. Surgeon's advice

While this may be the only time you are undergoing such a procedure, your surgeon has done it many times and will be able to guide you during your recovery. Keep up your follow-ups, and do not hesitate to call and seek advice.

2. Position and Posture

Do follow your surgeon's advice regarding posture while walking and position while lying down. Resting of the operated part is important, which means a slightly bent-down position while walking and elevated head and knees while lying down.

3. Meals and hydration :

Reasonable water and fluid intake and healthy, wholesome nutrition are important. Avoid a pro-inflammatory diet.

4. Supplements:

Anti-inflammatory supplements like green tea and curcumin are very helpful in keeping the swelling in check. Arnica also helps as an oral or sublingual agent.

5. Movement and exercise

Walking and gentle movements are important, but vigorous exercise has to be avoided for a few weeks so as not to increase swelling.

6. Breathing exercises and Pranayam

Both are helpful, but not the ones where the stomach is used excessively. Breathe with your chest, not your stomach.

7. Take it easy and be patient  -

Final results take a while, as does the disappearance of swelling, which varies from one individual to another.

8. Pressure garments and Lipofoam/shield : may be advised by your surgeon. Use as directed.

9. Physical intimacy with your partner should be avoided for several weeks to prevent stress and swelling.

10. Communication Do not hesitate to communicate with your doctor's office or his nurse.
